JBS Dance, formerly the Jean Butterworth School of Dancing was established over 75 years ago by Jean Butterworth (FRAD), who was an inspirational teacher, talented choreographer and examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance.
During her lifetime she taught and inspired many young pupils to enter a career in dance, a tradition which has been carried on by Miss Jenkins with a high percentage of past students at full time vocational colleges or working professionally in theatre.
Instruction is at various levels from hobby to examination standard. We encourage our students to acheive their very best and develop their full potential. With this strong technical background they achieve excellent examination results awarded by the RAD and ISTD examination boards.
Whilst we recognise that all children are not born to be professional dancers/actors, our aim is to inspire our young pupils with a joy in movement and a love of theatre.
Through courtesy, discipline, motivation and dedication comes confidence and poise, which our students can take with them into all walks of life.
We hold our own school show every other year and students are encouraged to compete in local and national dance festival competitions to gain valuable stage experience.
